I'm sharing this picture of Jeanne (Starnes) and Mike Williams and their 3 sons that Mike sent me after she passed away. I don't know who the two older folks are in the picture... they're not Jeanne's parents; maybe Mike's.
Jeanne and I became best friends when I moved from Marietta Street to Hoffman Road after the fourth grade at Central and we rode the school bus together to Grier School. We went to the First Presbyterian Church and were in Girl Scouts also. Lots of wonderful memories spending time with Jeanne and her family. Her mom and mine were also good friends. Jeanne and I worked one summer at the Diane drive-in selling tickets and working the concession stand. Jeanne's mom died from cancer the first year we were both in college at UNC and I was totally crushed. Through the UNC alumni website, I learned where she was living and tried contacting her in 2008... only to learn that she had passed away about two months prior. I was lucky to contact her husband Mike and we had a wonderful, long phone chat about Jeanne and the family and the "good old times". I loved her and miss her so much. Rest in Peace, sweet Jeanne ~ Susan
