JOHN MORGAN ROBINSON

Born: October 31, 1945

Died:  April 12, 2020

It is with sadness that I am having to notify our class of the passing of another of our 1963 Ashley High Classmates.

John passed away Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

The information that has been imparted to me indicates John had been living in Santa Fe, New Mexico and enjoying desert retirement.

Apparently he had been on a trip to South America recently but was in North Carolina visiting friends.

He was driving back to New Mexico and had spent the night in Nashville, TN.  It was the morning after and he resumed his trip but only had gone about a half mile when the car accident occurred.  John suffered injuries and was taken to a smaller hospital, then transferred to Vanderbilt.  He then suffered a stroke and spent the next 47 days in the hospital, then rehab and then back to the hospital where he passed away from his injuries.

John did not have any children nor a wife, so his friend and our classmate, Paul Bruchon, Jr.  is handling the arrangements for his friend, and are not complete at this time.  Paul and his daughter made a trip to Nashville to visit John, but was not able to communicate with him at that time due to the results of the stroke.  Paul hopes to bring John’s ashes back to Gastonia and have them placed between his parents.  Hopefully a small service can be held at the gravesite if and when this occurs.

I will keep the class informed as I obtain further information.

So sorry to learn of John's death. We knew each other at Bradley Memorial church as well as Ashley. I was in communication with him just a few years ago after many years of not knowing where he was. It's very sad. Thank you, Paul, for taking care of his arrangements.

I am so saddened to learn of John's death! We knew each other from Myrtle School through Ashley!  John was brilliant and always had a cheerful disposition!  Even though I don't think I had seen him in many years we had communicated several times.  I offer my sincere condolences to his good friend, Paul!  And I pray John Rest In Peace!

John and I had communicated a few years ago through the website. I remember John as an extraordinarily gifted individual of very high intelligence. He was extremely focused academically and used that to great advantage. It is wonderful that Paul has taken on the responsibility for John's final arrangements. That is true friendship.
