GASTONIA - Donnie Ledford Griggs, 72, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Donnie was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Tench Ledford.
Donnie was a graduate of Ashley High School and retired from Bell South where she worked many years in Operator Services. She was a pioneer in the Communication Workers Union and was a member of Luther Church of the Redeemer.
Donnie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Grant Griggs; two loving sons, David Griggs and wife Linda of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Travis Griggs and wife Carol of Kernersville, North Carolina; brother, James Larry Ledford and wife Jenny of Mocksville, North Carolina; sister, Shirley Hutchins of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Taylor Griggs, Tyler Griggs, Darian Blaney.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1915 South New Hope Road, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer with Pastor Jeff Lindsay officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium and Memorial Garden of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Memorials are requested to be made to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1915 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 in memory of Donnie Ledford Griggs.
