It has been great keeping in touch, remotely, with all. I have probably been a lot more isolated than I cared to be but really didn’t want to interject too much about me.
I’m sure everyone had a story to tell! I one could only look at the bright side of things such as family and fiends it would be so good.
We have met the owners of a zoo here and the experience has been wonderful. Tomorrow we are going to a Scottish Football match (soccer to you). I haven’t been to one since the 60s! The man that walked May down the isle was Secretary of the Scottish Football Association at the time. That meant I got a lot of “nice” tickets back then. This will be a good reunion for me.
I do hope all have some great things planned for the Christmas and New Year season!

Thanks to all!!! It has been a long 2 and 3/4 years for us but we are almost settled into the society here.
We have been able to join a nearby zoo, The Five Sister’s Zoo. We now know the owners and most of the staff, it is very soothing. We have loved animals over the years but now we even get to feed bears, a red panda and many others by hand (and we still have both!).
We are trying to keep as fit as possible and the grounds of the zoo make a nice place with lots of fun. We did not join the NC zoo when we lived near Raleigh but were members in LA.
Sorry, I’m rambling a bit now, really great hearing from all as I am on an island here! My 3 sisters are still around but 1 in the Tampa area, 1 in the Ashville area and the 3rd has lived in Hana, Hawaii since the 60s! I have a sister-in-law, two nephews and 2 great nephews here that we are in contact with. Steven Osborne is a concert pianist, so we do go see him on stage occasionally. He and his wife live in Edinburgh while our other nephew lives near Glasgow. On the map, it doesn’t seem great distances, but the parking is far worse that you can imagine!
We now have the winter setting in but really not worse than the Gastonia area! It is a lot wetter and the sunset/sunrise looks like 08:27 and 15:42. I think we are enjoying it here even more than other places we have lived together.
I do wish all a very Merry Christmas and, of course, a Happy New Year! Hopefully all goes well in the coming year. We are looking forward to the spring.
Just quickly, in Scotland Christmas is for kids, New Year is for adults. In bygone years they celebrated “First Footing”, being the first over the threshold for the New Year. You had to bring a bottle (Single Malt preferable) and you mustn’t be blond (Vikings did invade the people may years ago).
Best to everyone at this family time!

I’ve been listening now for about a year, great to hear about everyone.
My memories of Ashley and Gastonia are still vivid in my mind with no regrets to having grown up in the great area.
Gene thanks for setting this up and keeping all going.
Best wishes to everyone in the coming year,
Graham T. Anderson AKA Tom, Tommy
